In the build you can download today.
The canvas. Hundreds of images and videos playing in place, mosaics, camera framing, display proxies over untouched originals.
Folders become boards. Drop a stack of project folders, each becomes its own .brd with an import preflight.
The board stack. Every board a flick away: Stack and Spread views, dockable to any edge.
Cull Mode. Flag the weak takes and move the real files to the Trash, with Finder showing you the move, undoable.
PDF decks with a live slide sorter. Draggable page thumbnails, cover sheets, full-quality exports that auto-version.
Rename once, everywhere. Rename the board and the source folder on disk renames with it.
Ten themes. The whole app re-skins in a click.
Building now — 1.1
In progress on our machines. Free update for every 1.0 owner.
Import Lenses. Choose exactly what a folder drop brings in: renders only, everything, or your own recipe. See the preflight receipt before a single card lands.
A redesigned board panel. Full-bleed canvas with a floating, collapsible dock. The panel gets out of the way until you want it.
Smoother heavy-footage playback. Friendlier handling for ProRes and other edit-grade formats on big boards.
Hover-play and polish. The quality-of-life list our launch users are writing for us right now.
Fair warning, said once: BoardStack is $29 until 1.1 ships, then it goes to $39. Buying early locks the low price and gets every 1.x update free.
On the sketchpad
Ideas we want, in no particular order, promised to no one.
Bridges to After Effects, Cinema 4D, and Houdini, so a board can follow you into the tools where the work happens.
Provenance search: click any card and trace where the file came from.
Per-item captions baked into PDF and review exports.
More ways to view a board: list, calendar, and graph modes.
Windows. On the wish list, no dates until macOS 1.0 has earned its keep.
Changelog
July 2026 · 1.0 release candidate
- Board panel scaling rebuilt: drag any edge and the thumbnails scale with it, and the size finally sticks between launches.
- Killed the black flash when switching boards: video cards hold a still until the clip has a real frame, then swap seamlessly.
- Videos now wake up the moment a board-to-board jump lands, no nudge needed.
- Cull Mode's Finder preview is now a visible choice in the confirm dialog: watch the files leave the folder, every time or never.
- Signed and notarized build passes a fresh-Mac cold-start gauntlet, 7 checks for 7.
Spring 2026 · the road to 1.0
- Built in the open at our own studio: the whole feature set above, tested nightly on real client work.
- A 25-box release gate with adversarial review on every patch. If that sounds obsessive, it is.
